The GCRC has purchased an anti-spam package called PMAS that is
tailored to operate with our e-mail server software.
As a result of the operation of this software, e-mail messages with
content that matches a set of complex rules (that will get continually refined)
will be scored for "spamminess" and either quarantined
or tagged as [SPAM].
You will get e-mail messages twice a day from "PreciseMail" that will
list the messages addressed to you that have been placed in quarantine.
These messages describe how to retrieve mail that was inappropriately
diverted: you should lose no mail as a result of this software. Quarantined
mail you do not retrieve will be deleted in 14 days.
Note that you can configure PMAS to meet your needs through a web-based tool.
Follow the link "https://gcrc.med.nyu.edu/pmas/" to make changes to the way your mail is processed.
In testing this
product has worked very well, reducing spam by >90% with almost no
false positives.
It is important that you e-mail Ross Smith examples of e-mail
that has been processed inappropriately so that the developers
can be informed and problems fixed.
